Thinking about how to improve my speaking exercise, which basically consists of making short self-talks every day before breakfast and watching myself talking after it, I realized that one useful thing I may add is writing comments to these self-talks. Earlier I already tried to do that, but couldn’t keep for long. Probably there were some reasons for that, but now I see how many advantages this feature may bring to my work. First of all, I’ll always have something to begin with thereby reducing feeling of uncertainty, which is an unavoidable part of every recorded spontaneous self-talk. Then, I would say, that paying attention to what was said the day before is a good way to develop consistency. It’s also going to help with developing critical thinking insofar as I have to consider more closely everything what I’m talking about in order to conceptualize a five minute talk in a few written sentences. I think all of this will have a great impact on me forcing a part of my brain which is responsible for maintaining this exercise to get better. In some sense it’s really crucial thing for any kind of psychological transformation to find something that makes you better and increase its influence on your behavior.
Today I’ve finished writing the letters to X. There are nine pages, which took me more than ten hours to write them down. Now I’m going to edit the text and then put it in a notebook.
